Open Gardens 2019

    Open Gardens 2019

    On the 13th & 14th July we held our 15th Open Garden Weekend. The weather was perfect on both days and was once again, extremely successful with more than 350 visitors from all over the North West looking at the 12 gardens that were open. One lady had even come from Harrogate!

    John Howard was once again driving his vintage bus between the gardens for those who had difficulty in walking or simply wanted a ride on the bus!

    We have had some lovely comments from residents and visitors, these amongst them;

    Helen said: “We’ve had a fabulous time visiting many of the beautiful gardens over two days and buying lots of new plants. My 3 year old daughter has loved riding round on the vintage bus with me and her Nanna. Thank you to all who organise, open their beautiful gardens to inspire others and for the opportunity of riding such a unique vintage bus – it was lovely to hear about its history. The weather has been very kind, and I hope you have raised lots of money for good causes. Thank you all.”

    And Ann wrote “Beautiful gardens here in Ainsdale, who needs Chelsea!”

    Many of the visitors also called at our information stall after their visit to say how much they had enjoyed the day and commented on how friendly and welcoming everyone was.

    All monies raised by this Society goes back into our various projects around the Village and to the various charities nominated by our gardeners and this year more that £3000 – our best total to date!

    Thank you to the wonderful generous gardeners who open their gardens, Iris and Sylvia who organise the event, Jon for providing and driving the bus and of course to all our visitors who come to make the event so successful.

    See you all again next year!
