Ainsdale Fun Day – Saturday 1st June 2019

Ainsdale Fun Day – Saturday 1st June 2019

Once again Ainsdale Civic Society was proud to play host to the annual Ainsdale Fun Day on Saturday 1st of June. On this day our village was transformed into a festive street party for young and old alike. Despite gloomy clouds threatening to rain on our parade, many visitors from near and not so near came along to join in the happy event.

This year, as always, we had plenty to offer our guests. The usual fairground rides and charity stalls were joined by several musical offerings to ward away the clouds and bring pleasure to all. Our parade of a large number of vintage cars, driven by their proud owners, was led by the Skelmersdale Prize Band, and, of course, Jon Howard’s Great Orme bus, always a crowd puller; and Jon was able to offer nostalgic rides in this magnificent vehicle throughout the day.

Once again, our numerous bars and cafes were able to provide welcome refreshment, and as the sun began to shine, the village took on a very relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

The children were especially attracted to our Children’s Entertainer, Adrian, www.adriancatch.co.uk and our Face Painter, Bev, www.creativefacepainters.co.uk, who did a roaring trade, with even some of the adults joining in!

This year, we included a Children’s Fancy Dress Competition and the prize was won by a very convincing pirate, complete with cutlass and eye patch.

All the hard work which went into preparing for the day was certainly worth it, and it is a wonderful opportunity to share our lovely village with as many people as possible.

We look forward to our Christmas event (not too long away now) when once again Ainsdale will be on show.
